Argentinian Grain-Fed Beef
Tulling Meat Import supplies premium grain-fed beef from Argentina to wholesalers, foodservice companies, butchers, retailers, restaurants and meat distributors throughout Europe.
Argentina is one of the world’s best-known beef origins. Traditionally associated with cattle grazing across vast natural grasslands, Argentina has also developed premium grain-fed and grain-finished beef programmes designed to create greater marbling, tenderness and consistency. Selected programmes use extended grain-finishing periods, which may reach approximately 120 days, depending on the producer and specification.
From the Argentine Pampas to Grain-Finished Beef
The production process generally begins on pasture. Cattle are raised outdoors and spend a substantial part of their lives grazing on grass and forage. This pasture-based phase is an important part of the traditional Argentine cattle production system and contributes to the characteristic flavour associated with Argentine beef. For selected premium grain-fed programmes, cattle then enter a controlled finishing phase. During this period, the animals receive a carefully formulated grain-rich diet.
The ration can include:
Corn and other cereals · Forage · Protein sources · Vitamins · Minerals
The objective of the grain-finishing period is to provide a consistent nutritional intake and gradually increase intramuscular fat development. Depending on the producer, finishing programs can vary in duration. Premium programs may use a finishing period of approximately 100 to 120 days, while other programmes use different specifications.
What Happens During a 120-Day Grain-Finishing Period?
A 120-day grain-finishing program provides approximately four months for the cattle to develop under a controlled nutritional regime.
During this phase, producers carefully manage factors such as:
- Feed composition
- Daily feed intake
- Growth
- Weight development
- Animal condition
- Fat coverage
- Final slaughter specifications
Angus and Hereford Cattle
Argentina has a long history of producing beef from recognised breeds such as Angus and Hereford. These breeds are particularly suitable for high-quality beef production. Under a controlled grain-finishing programme, selected Angus and Hereford cattle can develop excellent marbling while maintaining the strong beef flavour associated with Argentine beef.
Depending on producer and programme, Tulling Meat Import may supply:
Angus Beef · Black Angus Beef · Hereford Beef · Selected Crossbred Beef
Argentinian Grain-Fed Steak Cuts
Ribeye
Ribeye benefits particularly well from grain finishing. The additional marbling that develops within the rib muscle improves tenderness, flavour and juiciness. For premium restaurants and steakhouses, grain-fed ribeye is one of the most attractive cuts within an Argentine beef program.
Striploin
Striploin combines beef flavour, tenderness and a characteristic external fat layer. Extended grain finishing can increase internal marbling, creating a richer and more consistent steak.
Tenderloin
Tenderloin is naturally extremely tender. Grain feeding can provide additional richness and consistency while maintaining the fine texture of the cut.
Rump Heart
A leaner steak cut with a pronounced beef flavour and excellent versatility.
Picanha
One of the most recognisable South American cuts. The combination of the characteristic fat cap and a grain-fed finishing programme produces a rich and juicy eating experience.
Flank Steak
A flavourful cut that performs well on high-temperature grills and is particularly suitable for slicing.
Flap Meat
A strongly flavoured cut with excellent potential for barbecue, grilling and foodservice applications.
Tri-Tip
A versatile sirloin cut suitable for roasting, grilling and barbecue.
Additional cuts may include:
Topside · Silverside · Eye of Round · Knuckle · Chuck Roll · Chuck Tender · Brisket · Short Ribs
Grain-Fed Beef for Premium Steak Programmes
The combination of Argentine cattle genetics, pasture-based rearing and controlled grain finishing allows producers to create beef suitable for premium steak programmes.
Cuts such as:
Ribeye · Striploin · Tenderloin · Rump Heart · Picanha
Are especially suitable for restaurants, steakhouses, premium butchers and specialist meat retailers. For these customers, consistency is often just as important as flavour.
A controlled grain-finishing programme helps create more predictable levels of fat coverage, marbling, tenderness and portion performance.
Chilled and Frozen Argentinian Grain-Fed Beef
Depending on producer and programme, Argentinian grain-fed beef can be supplied chilled or frozen.
Chilled Beef
Suitable for premium refrigerated steak programmes and fresh foodservice distribution.
Frozen Beef
Ideal for international supply, inventory management and long-term storage.
